When people feel all grown up

On day you wake up and you feel as if everyone around you is behaving a little different from usual  You try to talk to them. You feel maybe its just a bad day... But this just goes on... Its either the people around you or yourself... You just cant makeup your mind... and then you suddenly realize that your friend and colleagues have suddenly realized that they have grown up and they need to do something with their lives. You try to straighten things up... maybe try and talk them out of it, while all you do from the bottom of your heart is you pray for them not to change... You ask your self, maybe, that why do people need to change... and why do they... After all its you and them and everyone else, the same as they were a few days/years back, not so long ago... All you really want is for them to understand you and keep being the same as they always were... But the sad truth of life is not only that everyone grows up..but they also move on... Its none of...

Transhumanism (H+).... and beyond....

Image
Transhumanism (abbreviated as H+ or h+) is an international cultural and intellectual movement with an eventual goal of fundamentally transforming the human condition by developing and making widely available technologies to greatly enhance human intellectual, physical, and psychological capacities. Transhumanism thinkers study the p otential benefits and dangers of emerging technologies that could overcome fundamental human limitations, as well as study the ethical matters involved in developing and using such technologies. They predict that human beings may eventually be able to transform themselves into beings with such greatly expanded abilities as to merit the label " posthuman ". - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transhumanism  What exactly is transhumanism? To give an example, the recent use of prosthetic limbs to substitute for lost legs and other body parts may be a part of transhumanism. In addition there is a coming revolution in the field of aging a...

Can emotions have errors !!!

Can emotions have errors !!! Scientists, for years now, have tried to understand how emotions are expressed, what riggers the, how do past experiences effect our current emotional status, how do we know when to express fear/anger/ humility/love etc. The neurons grow and form synapses as the embryo develops into an adult. During the process we develop long-term and short-term memories which are stored in our brain as experiences on which we learn and make decisions  As the events are repeated the synapses responsible for triggering the response strengthen over time and the memory of that event becomes permanent and we start to do things without having to remember them i.e. via. the subconscious mind.  At times there might occur an error (to state it simply) when hypothetically, a neuron forms synapse with another neuron responsible for a non-associated trigger in the circuit. You might...

Dilemma of a PhD (thesis submitted) student

Image
So what does one does one do after he/she has submitted their PhD thesis. Here in India it takes an awful amount of time for the process of thesis review upto the time of viva (The PhD degree is awarded on the day of viva itself). So what could one do with their time while the process takes its own sweet time.  Normally after thesis submission upto the date of viva it could take around 6-12 months. It could take a huge load on the student , depending on his/her temperament. Usually students would like to apply for postdoctoral position or other suitable job openings during this time period. A few of them might get lucky enough to even get a position. however, with the ever increasing competition in the field and hundreds of applications received daily by each of the high profile research organizations, it has become a norm these days to shortlist or take candidate with a degree in hand. However, some organizations do relax the st...

What to write

Image
This would be my first official blog post. I have been thinking of starting a blog since a very long time now, as it would also be evident from the fact that I have been registered at blogger for a few months now. However, the dilemma of what o write in your first post must be quite troublesome for many (as per my count of number of blogs suggesting people on what to write in their first post). However, this post is not about giving suggestion to pothers on what to (or not to) write in their first post. This post is about the many different things that come to my mind while I am writing this post. While I sat down to start writing there were three things that came to my mind (A) Should I write about a daily activity, (B) Should the post be about venting out the often unsaid thoughts that come to my mid or (C) Should it be something professional: me being from a research background, often encounter several interesting findin...
